The world's great wines embody the essence of great vineyards—and this is certainly true of Château Fonplégade. At the same time, wines are shepherded to greatness through the talent and passion of many hands, from the people who lovingly prune the vines to those who practice their artistry through the noble craft of winemaking.
At Château Fonplégade, our team has been selected with the same care and forethought that goes into every decision we make. Guided by Denise and Stephen Adams, this world-class team includes legendary Consulting Oenologist Michel Rolland, a man whose name is synonymous with some of the world's greatest wines. Our Winemaker Franck Jugelmann honed his craft at Château La Tour Blanche before going on to work at Château de Landiras with Hugh Johnson, and later at Château Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion. In the chateau, and in our vineyards, we are guided by Director and Technical Manager Eloi Jacob. A graduate of Bordeaux's prestigious ENITA, Eloi’s passion for viticulture and winemaking has taken him from the great vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône to California's famed Ridge Winery to here in Saint-Emilion where his deep roots in the vineyard and winery ensure Fonplégade’s commitment to the highest standards of quality. Together, this gifted group of individuals collectively brings decades upon decades of experience to Château Fonplégade—experience that is grounded in the famed soils of Bordeaux, but also draws on knowledge gained working with some of the finest vineyards from around the globe.
In the same way that our vineyard and winemaking teams ensure the exceptional quality of our wines, our hospitality team ensures that every visit to Château Fonplégade is a rich and memorable one. Led by Tasting Room and Wine Club Manager Rachida Hammouch, the Château Fonplégade visitor experience is recognized as Saint-Emilion's most gracious and inviting, offering guests an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in both the heritage and modern-day vitality of a great Grand Cru Classé.
